Job Description

A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary school setting in Stockton, CA. This role involves providing effective communication access for students, staff, and families through sign language interpretation during the school year (CSY).

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear and accurate sign language interpretation for students, teachers, and staff in classroom and school-related activities.
• Interpret meetings, lessons, and events to ensure equal communication access.
• Collaborate with educators and support teams to address the needs of deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
• Adhere to school policies and state regulations regarding interpretation services.

Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills.
• Experience working with children or in educational environments preferred.
• Ability to interpret in various settings, including group and one-on-one settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work the full contract duration covering the school year.
