*Position Summary*
We are seeking a Heavy Truck Diesel Mechanic with 2–3 years of hands-on experience working on diesel vehicles and heavy machinery.
This is a full-time position, 6 days per week (approximately 50–60 hours weekly), with overtime pay for all hours worked over 40. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM, and Saturday, 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
The ideal candidate is dependable, has a strong foundational skillset, and is eager to continue learning and developing in the trade. Success in this role requires being a true team player who can adapt to a fast-paced environment and shifting priorities.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on diesel trucks, heavy machinery, and related equipment.
* Conduct inspections, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and identify necessary repairs.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot emission system issues; replace or remove parts as needed. Escalate complex issues to manufacturer technical representatives when appropriate and follow guidance for resolution.
* Diagnose and repair engine systems, including fuel, lubrication, and electrical components.
* Inspect and repair suspension systems, including tires, tire pressure, springs, shock absorbers, and linkages.
* Troubleshoot and repair drivetrain systems, including transmission, driveshaft, CV joints, axles, and wheels.
* Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including wiring, starters, alternators, batteries, lighting, and sensors.
* Complete preventive maintenance services such as oil changes, brake checks, and fluid inspections.
* Communicate any roadblocks or challenges to the Fleet Maintenance Manager promptly and adjust task priorities as needed to maintain efficiency.
* Complete daily detailed Parts Request Forms and End of Day Reports documenting tasks completed, any delayed tasks, and unresolved or major issues.
* Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
* Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet company standards and safety protocols.
* Collaborate with team members to complete jobs efficiently and safely.
* Assist senior technicians as needed while demonstrating the ability to handle jobs independently.
* Follow company safety policies and OSHA standards at all times.
*Qualifications*
* 2–3 years of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician.
* Strong foundational knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical systems.
* Ability to diagnose and repair using both manual tools and computerized diagnostic equipment.
* Experience with troubleshooting wiring, starters, alternators, sensors, and battery systems preferred.
* Dependable, with a strong work ethic and commitment to showing up ready to work each day.
* Team-oriented with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
* Eager to continue learning and growing in the field.
* Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
* Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus).
* High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications preferred.
