Jr. Accountant – Accounts Payable
Location: Carson, CA (Onsite) Pay Rate: Up to $26 per hourNon-profit industryWill be required to take Accounting, Excel and 1 minute Typing Assessment if moved forward
Overview: We’re seeking a detail-oriented Jr. Accountant to join the accounting team at our Carson office. This role focuses primarily on accounts payable and supports general accounting activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and enjoys working in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:Accounts Payable:
Process high-volume, full-cycle accounts payable for multiple departments.
Review and verify invoices, ensuring proper approvals and coding.
Maintain accurate vendor records and ensure compliance with W-9 and 1099 requirements.
Prepare weekly check runs, ACH payments, and related reports.
Research and resolve invoice discrepancies or payment issues in a timely manner.
Reimbursements and Credit Cards:
Review and process employee reimbursements, mileage, and corporate credit card expenses.
Verify expense documentation, ensure correct account coding, and follow internal expense policies.
Journal Entries and Reconciliations:
Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and prepaid expense entries.
Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure supporting documentation is complete.
Prepare and enter journal entries to record A/P transactions and adjustments.
General Support:
Provide backup support for other accounting team members as needed.
Assist with year-end audits by compiling documentation and responding to auditor requests.
Participate in ongoing efforts to improve accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls within the department.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
1–3 years of experience in accounting or accounts payable.
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and journal entries.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with ERP systems a plus).
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
