Role: Mainframe Tester
Experience: 10+ years' Experience Mandatory

Location: Remote

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Tester to join our QA team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in testing mainframe applications, particularly those built on COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM. The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and experience working in Agile or Waterfall development environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze business requirements and create detailed test plans and test cases for mainframe applications.
• Perform system, integration, regression, and UAT testing on mainframe-based systems.
• Write and execute test scripts using tools like CA7, Control-M, or custom batch utilities.
• Validate data in mainframe databases (DB2, VSAM) using SQL queries and file comparison tools.
• Collaborate with developers, BAs, and other testers to ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Track defects using tools like JIRA, ALM, or Bugzilla and work with the development team for resolution.
• Perform batch job testing and analyze job failures and logs.
• Generate daily/weekly test execution reports and provide status updates to stakeholders.
• Participate in test planning, risk assessments, and release reviews.

Required Skills:

• 4 10 years of experience in Mainframe testing.
• Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, TSO/ISPF .
• Experience with test management tools (e.g., HP ALM, JIRA, Zephyr).
• Proficiency in writing and executing SQL queries.
• Knowledge of file handling (Flat files, Sequential files, GDGs).
• Experience with batch job execution and monitoring tools (e.g., CA7, Control-M).
• Good understanding of SDLC and STLC , especially in Agile or Waterfall models.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Domain experience in Banking/Insurance/Healthcare.
• Familiarity with automation tools for mainframe testing (e.g., REXX, Selenium for green screens).
• ISTQB or equivalent certification.
