Public Safety Officers are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of all guests, team members, and physical assets of the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex. Additionally, Public Safety Officers are responsible for assisting the Security Management Team with the supervision, execution, and overall oversight of Security operations at select events and venues, while also initiating emergency response measures by means of responding and reacting to unsafe conditions and emergency situations.

Job Functions:
Provide a safe and friendly atmosphere to guests and team members
Establish and maintain a good working relationship with other departments and support teams
Manage deployment of security personnel and equipment to provide effective and efficient operations during events/incidents
Assess, investigate, resolve, and contain situations while taking appropriate actions based on company policy and procedures, as well as training
Supervise team members in assigned areas and/or venues and provide coaching/training while on their shift
Provide high-visibility patrols of buildings and grounds
Control vehicle/pedestrian traffic when necessary
Monitor guest behavior for compliance with event and venue policies
Monitor crowd behavior and movement and take proactive measures to mitigate risk
Monitor guest feedback and provide win-win solutions to resolve guest concerns and document guest resolutions via an electronic guest resolution log
Communicate regularly with Security Management regarding training and operational issues to include team member or guest concerns, losses, and unusual situations
Create timely, thorough, and accurate incident reports through the incident documentation process
Consistently practice safe work habits including, but not limited to, use of personal protective equipment, lifting and reporting of unsafe situations
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age on the date of applying
In accordance with Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse), and Fingerprint-based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI), as a condition of continued employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Criminal justice/safety/security-related training and experience preferred
Must be friendly, upbeat, and work well with other team members and be able to interact with guests
Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated to perform all aspects of the job at all times
Must be detail-oriented and have clear verbal and written communication skills
Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally, including delivering safety instructions/directions, verbal cues, and speaking clearly into microphones and radios
Must be able to successfully complete all legal, company, and department training requirements
Must have the ability to remain alert and vigilant at all times
Must have the ability to handle stressful working conditions, emergencies, and accept a high degree of accountability
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Must have the ability to safeguard confidential information
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications, including Excel and Word
Must display a positive attitude, an eagerness to learn, and professional image in compliance with Hershey Entertainment & Resorts guidelines
Job Demands:
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays - Team members must work a minimum of eight (8) hours every two pay periods in order to stay an active employee
During the months of May through October, team members must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours every pay period in order to stay in the position
Employees are subject to a variety of weather conditions, including but not limited to: extreme heat, sun exposure, cold, and inclement weather.
Physical requirements would include ability to stand and walk unassisted (for up to eight hours at a time), bend at the waist and knees and have repeated manual dexterity, the ability to push, pull, and reach above shoulder level, and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance
