Job Summary: The purchasing assistant will be responsible for supporting the procurement process by placing orders for goods and services with vendors, managing inventory levels, tracking shipments, maintaining supplier relationships, and performing administrative tasks related to purchasing under the guidance of a purchasing manager or buyer; ensuring timely delivery of items at the best possible price while adhering to company policies and procedures. Pay: $22.00-$24.00/hour Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist buyer in creating purchase orders, reviewing purchase requisitions and communicating order details to suppliers
• Maintaining accurate purchase order records, supplier information, customer files and pricing updates in PLEX
• Prepare reporting on purchasing activity, manage purchase order files and handle invoices
• Perform maintenance for discontinued stock codes in PLEX to ensure all inactive items are removed
• Identify potential suppliers, research market options, negotiate prices and contract terms to maintain strong relationships with vendors to facilitate low-cost alternatives and drive cost savings
• Provide tolling changes to Frito and input into SAP/Ariba as necessary
• Assist in the building and calculation of Schedule A pricing in conjunction with the site leaders for new items.

• Communication skills: Clear and concise communication both verbally and in writing to interact with vendors, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Negotiation skills: Ability to negotiate price, delivery terms, and other conditions with vendors to achieve the best deal for the company.
• Detail-oriented: Precise focus on accuracy when managing purchase orders, inventory levels, and supplier information.
• Organizational skills: Efficiently managing multiple purchase requests, tracking deliveries, and maintaining organized records.
• Market research knowledge: Understanding market trends, pricing, and potential suppliers to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Supply chain management understanding: Awareness of the overall supply chain process, including logistics and potential risks.
• Vendor management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and quality standards.
• Analytical skills: Analyzing data to identify cost-saving opportunities and make informed purchasing choices.
• Proficiency with purchasing software: Familiarity with ERP systems to generate purchase orders, track inventory, and manage supplier interactions.

Supervisory Responsibilities: * None. Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
• At least two years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
