This position opening is to be located at our Greenville, SC location. POSITION PURPOSE The Road Trailer Technician is responsible for monitoring trailers used in the haul department, taking care of repairs, and keeping the fleet DOT compliant. RESPONSIBILITIES # Operate equipment and tools as needed to perform work. # Perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of trailer manufacturers. # Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting. # Implement cost-saving and tracking maintenance program though work orders in Vista. # Document and keep clear and accurate details on work orders. # Coordinate with the Yard Manager on load lists to prioritize loads that are scheduled to ship. # Perform preventative maintenance on empty trailers to keep the yard crew/drivers from delays. # Check and bring loaded trailer tires to appropriate air pressure before leaving the yard. # Identify and replace damaged trailer tires before leaving the yard or loaded. # Daily yard check of fleet identifying any breakdowns and repairing to meet DOT/FMCSA guidelines prior to trailer leaving the yard. # Perform repairs to trailers on suspension, lighting, frame, brakes, and air systems to meet DOT/FMCSA requirements. # Perform trailer annual DOT/FMCSA inspections prior to expiration date to stay compliant. # Check inventory of parts needed to repair trailers to meet a min/max. # Perform local road calls that are in a safe location or set up sub tech for difficult or out of range repairs. # Adhere to environmental and stormwater pollution prevention policies. # Housekeeping as necessary to maintain work area, tools and equipment in a clean and orderly manner. # Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
