Supervisor of STEM and Educational Leadership The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has an opening for the Supervisor of STEM and Educational Leadership within the Innovative Educational Services (IES) division. The Supervisor is accountable for designing and delivering the development, related partnerships, and expansion of STEM and Educational Leadership services in Chester County and beyond. The role represents a partnership leader among schools, community resources, business and industry, and higher education organizations, providing strategic direction and leadership to schools, districts, and strategic partners as they implement educational initiatives involving student‑centered learning, integrative STEM, data science, esports, Environmental Literacy & Sustainability, STEELS standards integration, career readiness, organizational/instructional leadership, and cross‑industry partnerships. The position requires a sophisticated understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to the roles and responsibilities of educational leaders and PDE’s initiatives related to STEM education, educator effectiveness, comprehensive planning, industry partnerships, and systems change. The Supervisor supervises a STEM Coordinator, Learning Design Coordinator, Instructional Initiatives Coordinator, CAPS Coordinator, and Staff Development Coordinator to deliver these services and ultimately significantly impacts the students in Chester County and beyond. Within the Division of Innovative Educational Services, the Supervisor works closely with internal and external customers to integrate design thinking and data science into educational systems, including on‑site and/or virtual technical and strategic support for educational partners with respect to curriculum, coaching leadership team members, esports, professional learning, and customized solutions. Dimensions and Organizational Relationships of Position The Supervisor operates from the Educational Service Center, 455 Boot Road, Downingtown, PA. The candidate will be supervised by the IES Division Director. The reporting hierarchy and structure within the IES division for the Supervisor role are as follows: Director of Innovative Educational Services – Supervisor of STEM and Educational Leadership Services – STEM Coordinator, Learning Design Coordinator, Instructional Initiatives Coordinator, CAPS Coordinator, Staff Development Coordinator. Responsibilities Provide strategic support and promote innovation for enhancing leadership, data science, STEM, curriculum, and learner‑centered systems. Continually assess the extent to which existing STEM and esports services meet the needs of educational leaders, professionals, industry leaders, districts, schools, parents, children and the community and respond by deciding to strengthen, abandon, or redesign those services. Develop collaborative partnerships with industry and educational agencies to make services to educational leaders more cost‑effective, relevant, and impactful. Develop and deliver professional learning opportunities to transform the leadership, learning, and data science culture in schools to enhance the level of engagement beyond the traditional teaching practices. Provide leadership and guidance in researching, testing, and evaluating new and emerging technologies, instructional theories, and innovative educational approaches. Research, propose, and contribute to the development of grant proposals to foundations and other organizations to secure funding. Collaborate with CCIU colleagues and other programs to expand the CCIU’s internal and external capacity to meet the need for increased achievement for all students. Recruit, select, recommend, supervise, and evaluate professional, technical, and non‑professional employees within the assigned program. Contribute to professional organizations such as STEM Learning Ecosystems, PAIU Curriculum Coordinators, PAIMS, PASA, PDE STEM Points of Contact, NASEF, and the Chester County Curriculum Directors. Develop revenue‑generating professional development opportunities by creating new services or expanding to new customers. Prepare, monitor, and revise program budgets to align with projected services, new markets, and innovative business models. Collaborate with CCIU and division staff members to coordinate existing programs and promote collaborative activities and projects. Collaborate with other intermediate units, colleges, universities, and educational agencies to provide quality training programs to meet assessed needs. Education and Experience Master’s Degree in Education required, Doctorate preferred. Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of STEM, curriculum, data science, and/or leadership services. Experience in supervising staff including administrators, consultants, content experts, and/or educators. Successful experience in writing grants and proposals, developing work plans, and project management/evaluation. Qualities of leadership and good communication skills are essential in the fulfillment of the responsibilities of the position. Experience in planning and conducting professional development activities. Ability to collaborate with other administrative, instructional, and non‑instructional personnel. Certifications Required/Preferred Valid certificate in one of the following areas preferred: Pennsylvania Supervisory Curriculum and Instruction or Principal certification.
