United States University, Inc. is looking for an Academic Advisor .

This is a hybrid position!

Academic Advisors at United States University are responsible for supporting student progression throughout the entire student lifecycle from acceptance to graduation. This position will work directly with students from diverse backgrounds as well as collaborate with other university departments to help support student success and retention. Advisors spend most of their time communicating with students, assessing student situations, solving problems, and coaching students toward degree completion.

Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students from diverse backgrounds as they pursue their degrees through coaching, course planning, policy interpretation, and mentorship
  • Communicate with students daily via phone, email, and scheduled appointments, while providing quality customer service
  • Build proactive, positive relationships with students to support student progression and retention
  • Assess student situations and utilize problem-solving and communication skills to collaborate with other university departments to assist the student
  • Maintain the integrity of the students' records and guide students with integrity
  • Consistently meet our Quality Assurance expectations for phone calls, emails, notes, and student records
  • Ability to self-manage a caseload of students and utilize time management skills to ensure students receive equal support within published contact timeframes
  • Comfortability with working with various forms of technology to support online student learning and remote work environment communications
  • Ability to stay organized and effectively prioritize important tasks to ensure students receive timely support
  • Attend meetings with students, advisors, the team, or other departments as needed
  • Ability to write professionally and clearly without errors
  • Additional related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Preferred Experience:

  • 1+ years demonstrated customer service experience
  • 1+ years working with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Remote Work Requirements

This job is hybrid. Employees must have a designated, private, quiet workspace. Remote employees are expected to be on camera for meetings and training sessions. Employees are responsible for abiding by all FERPA privacy laws within their home-work environment and while in office. While employees will have some flexibility to work with their manager and determine their schedules, all work must be completed during standard workweek hours; employees are not permitted to work evenings or weekends as a standard schedule.

Work Environment

The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may involve working in a combination of office and classroom environments. While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. The work environment and physical demands described are representative of those required of an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.
