Job Description
McLaughlin Research Corporation (MRC) is seeking an Acoustic Signal Processing Engineer who will support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport RI. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) is the United States Navy's full-spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with undersea warfare. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, schedule driven environment.
Acoustic Signal Processing Engineer As an Acoustic Analyst, you will contribute to the operational advantage of the US Navy's Undersea Warfare community. This work includes, but is not limited to:
\n - Analyze acoustic data sets to derive qualitative and quantitative technical measurements from recorded acoustic data.
\n - Perform Acoustic Intelligence screening of acoustic data collections to develop acoustic tracks and signatures. Candidate will apply environmental data to the analyses to conduct technical measurements.
\n - Manipulate hardware/software configurations to permit reading of data from multiple sources.
\n - Attend and participate in data reviews as required. Document analyses in presentations, briefings, or technical papers.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications \n - Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible for U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance*
\n - Master's Degree in Acoustics, Ocean Engineering or related technical degree such as Oceanography or Physics (focused on acoustics) or be a PhD candidate with over 1 year of required coursework completed
\n - Experience with modern analytics software tools (e.g. Python, MATLAB, Mathematica)
\n - Experience with C++ programming language
\n - Demonstrated expertise in developing undersea electro-mechanical systems
\n - Experience with undersea acoustics and sonar processing chains
\n
\n
Preferred candidates will possess the following \n - Possessing a current U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance (TS/SCI Eligible)
\n - PhD in applicable discipline (Acoustics, Ocean Engineering, Oceanography, Physics with Acoustics focus)
\n - Experience with Operations Research and Operations Analysis techniques
\n - Experience with the following:
\n - Feature development for clutter characterization and clutter versus target discrimination
\n - Application of advanced machine learning techniques for improved active sonar automation
\n - Artificial intelligence for next-generation active sonar automation
\n - Signal and information processing technologies which exploit in situ environmental knowledge
\n - Previous experience analyzing U.S. Navy sonar systems performance, including propagation modeling
\n - Application of advanced machine learning techniques for improved passive sonar automation
\n - Optimal combination of information produced by disparate sensors, integration times, bandwidths and ranges
\n - Computationally efficient implementation of signal processing algorithms
\n - Long-term association, classification, tracking and localization of intermittent contacts
\n - Modeling and simulation to set system performance expectations for advanced undersea acoustic systems
\n - Field testing, especially at-sea testing including system deployment, operation, and recovery operations

\n \n - Knowledge of acoustic communications; UUV design, design tools, and component technology; architectures for unmanned systems; sensor, source, and array design (towed, conformal, drifting, or bottomed)
