Pre-Employment Requirements Selected candidates must complete an employment application, Airport ID application, submit fingerprints and driver's license for a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and license validation. Candidates must pass a drug test and background checks. The process may take 2-3 weeks. Major Functions The Airport Security Specialist is vital to the Airport's Security Team, handling responsibilities across Curbside, Ground Transportation, and Airport Control. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, self-motivated, and customer service-focused. Note: The position is essential during emergencies and severe weather, requiring 24/7 shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays. Communicate effectively with law enforcement, emergency responders, and airport tenants. Monitor security video, fire protection, and radio systems. Handle data files securely, follow up on violations. Enforce safety and security regulations, prevent crime. Conduct security sweeps and inspections. Control traffic and monitor parking lots. Verify vehicle authorization in secured areas. Perform safety inspections, collect fees, issue permits and badges. Maintain positive relationships with tenants and guests. Assist with airport information and escort services. Record and verify test and inspection data. Prepare reports, monitor operational conditions and automated systems. Coordinate staff dispatch for operational issues. Ensure security system functionality, respond to alarms. Coordinate emergency responses with agencies, assist in operations. Operate communication equipment, log events. May operate vehicles, conduct airfield tours, perform other duties. Minimum Qualifications At least 18 years old, eligible to work in the U.S., high school diploma or equivalent. Pass criminal history check and security threat assessment. Pass drug screening. Valid Florida driver’s license. One year of airport, security, or communications experience. Pass computer skills test (typing 15-20 WPM), basic/intermediate MS Office skills. Preferred candidates have military, aviation, security, law enforcement, or communications experience. Licenses & Certifications Valid Florida Driver’s License. Airport Perimeter Service Road/Non-Movement Area driver certification within 10 days. Airport Ground Vehicle Operator certification within 6 months. Security ID Badge (SIDA).
