Position Summary
We are seeking an exceptionally creative and innovative individual to join our team as the Director of Snow / Mountain Sports at Mt. Bachelor in Bend, Oregon. The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for winter sports, a commitment to excellence, and a visionary approach to shaping an unforgettable guest experience. This leadership role will oversee the development, operation, and growth of our Ski and Ride School, daycare, and mountain bike lessons and camps, ensuring it remains a leader in the industry and continues to set benchmarks for quality, innovation, and guest satisfaction.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
Culture: Understands how to operate in a people-first culture. Treats everyone with kindness and respect, prioritizing employee well-being and empowerment while delivering exceptional experiences for both employees and guests. Shows up for the team during busy periods.
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the Ski and Ride School, daycare, and mountain biking programs that aligns with the resort's overall vision and goals.
Innovative: Ability to think differently, develop new snow sports programs, and enhance other programs. Have a growth mindset, and do not be afraid to take chances.
Program Development: Design and execute creative, cutting-edge programs and lessons for all age groups and skill levels, incorporating the latest trends in ski and snowboard instruction.
Team Management: Recruit, train, and lead a team of over 300 highly skilled team members and support staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and enthusiasm.
Guest Experience: Ensure an exceptional and personalized guest experience by continuously improving teaching methods, communication, and program offerings.
Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze program performance, gathering guest feedback and using data to make informed decisions and improvements.
Safety and Compliance: Uphold and enforce the highest standards of safety and compliance in all operations. Ensure all licensing is compliant across all functions.
Marketing Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to promote all snow sports and mountain bike programs, creating unique and innovative campaigns.
IT Collaboration: Work with IT to modernize the ski school utilizing cutting-edge technology and solutions
Budget Management: Oversee the financial performance of the entire Snow Sports Department, managing budgets and optimizing resources efficiently.
Ensures compliance with governmental regulations.

Number of Employees Supervised: 3 direct & 300 indirect
Culture: Able to operate in a people-first culture.
Scheduling and assigning work: Ensuring coverage across all areas of snow sports.
Training: Staff orientations, ensuring proper training and credentials across all snow sports staff.
Performance Management: Responsible for all aspects of performance management, hiring, and termination.
Interpersonal Contacts
Must be able to develop meaningful relationships at all levels of the organization, including staff, managers and supervisors, peers, and with governmental agencies and other key partners.
Specific Job Skills
License/Certifications: Valid Driver's License
Technical: Advanced base of computer operation skills with the foundation to learn new programs. In-depth understanding of Microsoft Office, with advanced use of Excel. Knowledge of Flaik and Workday is a plus.
Additional: Ski area experience, Customer Service skills. Strong communication and public speaking skills are paramount, and the ability to present in front of large groups with impact and influence.
