MedCadre is seeking a local contract nurse RN Med Surg Senior for a local contract nursing job in East Elmhurst, New York.

Pay Rate: $61.00/hr W2

Overtime Rate: $91.50/hr

Shift: Day Shift | 8:00 AM – 8:30 PM

Schedule: 3 days per week

Hours: 11.5 hours/day (34.5 hours/week)

 

 

 

Position Overview

 

This is a contract RN – Med/Surg opportunity supporting Correctional Health Services in East Elmhurst, NY. The role focuses on providing direct nursing care in a structured, secure clinical environment. Ideal candidates are confident, experienced Med/Surg nurses who can work independently while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

• Provide comprehensive medical and surgical nursing care to adult patients
• Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and document care accurately
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and perform phlebotomy
• Perform IV insertions and manage IV lines
• Monitor patients receiving conscious sedation
• Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate care as needed
• Maintain compliance with NYS nursing standards and facility protocols

 

 

 

 

Required Skills & Experience

 

 

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience
• Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
• Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience
• Strong assessment, documentation, and clinical decision-making skills

 

 

 

 

Licensure & Certifications

 

 

• Active New York State RN License
• AHA BLS required
• AHA ACLS required (Queens locations)
• Primary Source Verification (NYS Education Department)
