Job Description

Job Location: Tyler, Texas Job Overview We are seeking a Medical Physicist to join our comprehensive radiation therapy team at Tyler Oncology Cancer Center. This role involves clinical physics support, treatment planning, quality assurance, and radiation safety responsibilities across external beam and brachytherapy programs in a collaborative, multi-site healthcare network. Key Responsibilities Plan and verify radiation treatments using Eclipse and Oncentra treatment planning systems Support HDR planning and treatments for 300+ annual procedures Implement SBRT and SRS procedures with advanced treatment techniques Collaborate with radiation oncology team including physicians, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists Evaluate all equipment for continued utility, performance, age, and replacement recommendations Design and implement quality management programs for external beam radiotherapy equipment Ensure correct calibration of treatment units during commissioning and regular maintenance Supervise quality assurance procedures and treatment verification processes Manage radiation oncology information systems including ARIA ROIS and Mosiaq ROIS Develop usage protocols for data maintenance and storage systems Lead radiation safety duties including employee monitoring, reports, and regulatory compliance Participate in clinical projects to improve department processes and patient treatments Must-Have Requirements CAMPEP Accredited Residency Program in Medical Physics Valid Texas Medical Board license for practice American Board of Radiology certification or board eligibility Working knowledge of SRS, SBRT, and HDR procedures Experience with Varian linear accelerators and associated technologies Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills Preferred Experience Two years of experience as a certified medical physicist Eclipse treatment planning system proficiency Oncentra treatment planning system experience HDR planning and treatment background ARIA and Mosiaq ROIS system experience Clinical research involvement or quality improvement initiative
