Job Description

A school located near Winnebago, IL, is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for the 2025-2026 academic year. This contract position requires in-person support at a high school campus in the Hampshire, IL area, offering an opportunity to work approximately 32.5 to 35 hours per week, depending on the school calendar.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation for students and staff during classroom instruction and school events.
• Facilitate effective communication between Deaf or hard-of-hearing students, educators, and peers.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure accessible learning environments.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethical practices.

Qualifications:

• Must hold or be eligible for ISBE Approval as a Sign Language Interpreter.
• An EIPA score of 3.0 or higher is required for temporary approval if ISBE certification is pending.
• Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in an educational setting.
• Ability to work in person at the designated school location.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support diverse student needs.

Location:

• Hampshire, IL, and surrounding areas, with daily in-person attendance required.
