Job Description

Overview The Huntington seeks a strategic and collaborative Collections Data and Digital Assets Manager in the Digital and Technology division. The successful candidate will have proven data administration and project management experience in a dynamic and diverse research and cultural heritage organization. Reporting to the Head of Integrated Systems, the manager provides management of and support for The Huntington’s digital asset management system (RAIL) with over 1.2M assets and 250+ internal users. The role oversees governance of the DAM initiative and ensures deliberate growth and efficiency in managing institutional digital assets including webhooks and integrations with collections databases. Responsibilities Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of The Huntington’s digital asset strategy aligned with the DAM roadmap and institutional priorities. Manage day-to-day operations of the DAM system (RAIL): troubleshoot issues, provide user support, conduct training, develop and maintain reports for stakeholder groups, perform regular audits of users, assets, taxonomy, and metadata, and coordinate system upgrades and feature enhancements. Manage development, implementation, and maintenance of collections database and content management integrations and webhooks to The Museum System (TMS by Gallery Systems), BG-BASE, and Drupal. Partner with stakeholder groups to develop and maintain policies and procedures for institutional use of digital assets. Collaborate with collections database administrators in Art, Botanical, and Library to develop, implement, and maintain technical requirements and documentation for applications, features, and governance. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in digital asset management and recommend improvements; contribute to sector knowledge sharing. Qualifications Master’s degree in library science, information science, or a related field. 3–5 years of experience administering enterprise digital asset management software with strong DAM principles and technologies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a track record of engaging diverse stakeholders. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Familiarity with copyright and intellectual property laws related to digital assets. Preferred: Experience with OrangeDAM by OrangeLogic; ETL tools and processes including APIs and Python; Drupal; IIIF protocols; familiarity with art, botanical living collections, and/or library cataloging databases including data standards and taxonomies. Working Conditions Ability to sit in an office setting for long periods with periodic campus travel to meet with departments, conduct trainings, perform media assessments, and review workflow implementations in interior and exterior spaces.
