A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a high school setting in Sylacauga, AL. This role involves facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, ensuring full access to educational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classrooms and school events
• Assist in communication for students with diverse hearing needs throughout the school day
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Maintain confidentiality and provide a professional, inclusive environment
• Attend meetings and trainings as required

Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills
• Experience working with children or in educational settings preferred
• Ability to interpret accurately and effectively in a classroom environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Understanding of educational terminology and student-centered support
