BONUS ELIGIBLE - $20K For full time new or experienced MRI Techs! As a member of the Radiology Patient Care Team, the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist performs high quality MRI exams. The MRI Tech operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners, monitors patient safety and comfort, and views images of area being scanned to ensure quality of pictures.
- Produces quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)s. - Assesses quality of images and ensures imaging outcome assessment meets departmental standard. (signal parameters, geometric parameters, artifacts) - Collaborates with and serves as a resource to staff, patients, physicians, and the organization.
- Conducts screening interviews of patients to identify contra-indications, such as ferrous objects, pregnancy, prosthetic heart valves, cardiac pacemakers, or tattoos. - Explains magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures to patients, patient representatives, or family members. - Injects intravenously contrast dyes, in accordance with scope of practice.
- Inspects images for quality, using magnetic resonance scanner equipment and laser camera. - Operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners. - Positions patients on cradle, attaching immobilization devices if needed, to ensure appropriate placement for imaging.
- Provides headphones or earplugs to patients to improve comfort and reduce unpleasant noise. - Secures, returns supplies, and maintains orderliness as well as cleanliness of the work areas and imaging rooms. - Selects appropriate imaging techniques or coils to produce required images.
- Takes brief medical histories from patients. - Demonstrates an awareness of appropriate confidentiality rules and regulations and acts accordingly. - Provides care appropriate to the age, spiritual, and cultural needs of the patient served.
- Other duties as assigned. Required Education: Completion of a 2-year degree program in Radiologic Technology. Preferred Education: None Required Experience: None Preferred Experience: 1 year experience.
Required Certification & Licensures: Must be certified as a MR Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(MR) within 2-years of hire. BLS certification within 6 months of hire. State licensure may be required depending on the practicing site.
