What’s the job?
Training Specialist - The Training Specialist (TS) is primarily responsible for driving the training for production employees under the direction of the Training Manager (TM). This position will work closely with the TM to assess training needs, develop materials and facilitate training. The TS will leverage subject matter experts for help in creating training curriculum. The TS is responsible for keeping the training tracking system updated and running reports as requested. The TS requires a person who will take initiative, cultivate relationships across the plant, demonstrate strong communication skills, understands basic training principles (Adult Learning Theory), and can drive training at the site level. Acts as the site lead and coordinator for training.
• Track and record all trainings in the training tracking system or LMS. Follow record retention and good documentation practices. All training records will be kept in a secure place. The training system will be updated, and all training rosters will be entered in a timely manner.
• Attend meetings as needed to deliver training updates, develop relationships and understand what training is needed and what will be needed in the future.
• Take the initiative to identify training opportunities. Identify and work with the SME to understand what type of material and training is needed.
• Collaborate with HR and hiring managers to onboard new hires through appropriate training.
• Facilitate training classes which includes the following: setting up the room, gathering required materials, sending out multiple communications and reviewing the material so you are confident in presenting.
• Communicate to leadership and supervisors regarding training initiatives, changes to the program and general updates.
• Update training materials to ensure they are meeting the needs of the site.
• Coordinate and schedule training classes and events
• Observe working conditions, equipment and behaviors to identify safety and quality issues.
Report any issues according to site requirements
