Join to apply for the Sports Director role at YMCA of the USA Join to apply for the Sports Director role at YMCA of the USA Seeking candidates who are enthusiastic about physical education, sports and athletics for youth and adults of all ages Job Description Do you have extensive knowledge of youth and adult basketball, pickleball, and creating, implementing, and running exciting Athletics Programs and camps? Located in New Canaan, CT, in an expansive and welcoming YMCA, our Sports Department is seeking a leader in the field of sports to maintain our current and robust programs, as well as come in with a creative and growth mindset to help us expand further. This position requires extensive knowledge of basketball programming and large-scale basketball tournaments. The ideal candidate will also have experience and/or interest in pickleball, volleyball, softball, and a variety of youth sports programs such as ultimate frisbee and golf. We require that candidates have experience working with children and running athletic programming. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Physical Education/Sports Management or related field is preferred. Must be able to present oneself professionally and communicate effectively with peers, staff, and members. Essential Functions Principal Activities: With support from the Sports Coordinator, create new and manage current sports leagues for youth and adults Current successful programs include: Y-Ball, Pre-school sports, Adult lunchtime hoops Develop and maintain department budget Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate year-round part-time staff, seasonal part-time staff, and volunteers, such as basketball officials and department contractors Effectively develop schedules for programs and member gym usage through a variety of online programs Organize Summer Sports programs Collaborate with other department directors and community organizations Lead or assist with Sports classes Maintain facility areas and equipment in order to offer safe and quality programming Maintain certifications in Red Cross safety and first aid, including AED, as well as adult/child CPR Flexible schedule - Ability to work Tuesday - Saturday during fall, winter, and spring sessions; and Monday - Friday during summer months Seniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Employment type Full-time Job function Job function Other Industries Non-profit Organizations Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at YMCA of the USA by 2x Sign in to set job alerts for “Sports Director” roles.
