Performs multiple clinical and practice support functions in coordination with the health care team to expedite the flow of patients in the Urgent Care setting. Also performs an array of moderate complex laboratory tests, performs daily quality controls on all lab devices, confirms accurate results, reports results to Attending Physician and also ensures results are accurately documented in the LIS system. This is an every weekend, Friday-Sunday position. Primary Responsibilities include: performing start-up, maintenance and troubleshooting on lab instruments per protocols and CAP requirements; communicating lab results to clinical team; preparing specimens and performing moderately complex lab tests; maintaining continuing education and competencies; performing patient care duties such as vitals, EKGs, wound care, splinting, phlebotomy, specimen collection, patient transport, and assisting providers; maintaining supply inventory and cleanliness; prioritizing delegated responsibilities; monitoring environment of care; communicating with patients on delays; and maintaining professionalism in a fast-paced clinical environment. Required qualifications include a minimum Associates Degree, Basic Life Support certification, 1-3 years related experience, and computer system proficiency. Preferred qualifications include EMT, Paramedic, CNA or Medical Assistant training, Urgent Care or Emergency Department experience, or nursing student with clinical rotation. Employees must be competent to provide care to patients from toddlers to elderly. The role involves exposure to infectious and bloodborne pathogens and requires close attention to detail and adaptability.
